While we’ve made every attempt to simplify the installation, some settings are individual to each blog and must be entered by hand. But don’t worry, we’ll guide you through this process to make it as easy as possible.

Step 1: Finalize Akismet Setup

This plugin requires an API key to work. The steps to obtain it are as follows:

1. Navigate to the Akismet Signup page and choose: I need Akismet for ‘a single site’; This website ‘is for my personal blog’. Checking other options will lead to a paid account. Click “Continue”
2. Provide your details and click continue.
3. Once you finish Akismet will email you your API key.

Login to your blog’s Admin Dashboard and navigate to Plugins->Akismet Configuration.

Enter you new API key into the field provided and check “Automatically discard spam comments on posts older than a month” and click “Update”.

Your Akismet will become active and protect you from comment spam from this point on.

Step 2: Generate New Sitemap

Since each sitemap is unique it is not generated by default. Pleas navigate to Settings->XML Sitemap in your blog’s Admin Dashboard and click “Generate Sitemap”.

All other settings can be left default for now, but can always be tweaked to better fit your needs in the future.

This completes the final steps of configuring your blog and you can begin creating content.

Step 3 . Change Appearance

Your blog came pre-installed with an extremely functional and customizable Theme! Navigate to Appearance-> 2010 Weaver in the Admin Dashboard to choose a new look or adjust the current one to your liking. A very comprehensive Help reference guide is located within the theme settings and explains all of the options available to you.

IMPORTANT NOTE:A blog created with our custom installer is a standard WordPress that is 100% compatible with themes and plugins available for this particular version of WordPress. At this point you can add any plugins and themes you desire. What we have done for you is SIMPLIFIED the installation of the blog and plugins with an emphasis on security, SEO and performance. You have a complete control from this point on.
